At Sacred Winds in Siskiyou, we are working toward a bold, imaginative vision: creating a self-sustaining, off-grid community where diverse people and children live in harmony with nature and each other. Here, renewable energy, regenerative growing practices, and shared land kinship will support a thriving ecovillage, following a plant-based diet, where much of what we need is grown, preserved, and shared locally—including having on-site a small health food store built from local fruits. Our goal is not only to sustain this community but also to demonstrate a model that others can learn from—places where microgrid energy systems, ecological restoration, and cooperative living reduce reliance on money while boosting resilience, wellbeing, and purpose.

Recreation, mature entertainment, cooperative games instead of competitive ones, and education—designed not only for the young but also for the mature and elderly—are intended to fulfill what their hearts desire while serving nature and the community well. Therefore, our future education model will be unique, drawing on the best aspects of systems such as Montessori, Humane Education, Home Schooling, and Normative Culture. Eventually, our community will become child-friendly and enriching, where children learn to honor the air, land, water, and sentient beings. We adhere to the principle of Mitakuye Oyasin — we are all related.

Sacred Winds aims to transform how we care for youth—especially those who have faced hardship or neglect—by creating a vibrant community where young people grow up surrounded by nature, mentorship, and a culture of compassion. Within an expanded Evergreen Village, future generations will raise families, honor the Great Spirit, and learn that true wealth is found not in possessions but in wisdom, kindness, responsibility, and caring for others. As they give to others, their lives will be enriched, enabling them to thrive. By nurturing children as the precious gifts they are and welcoming underserved populations into a supportive, intentional community, Sacred Winds seeks to help hurt children and family members rediscover their dignity, strength, and place within the greater web of life. This is the promise of Sacred Winds: a living example where the sacred voice that echoes in the winds inspires a more meaningful life for all—where people listen to the quiet inspiration of the sacred and act with courage and love—and where communities become places where both the land and the human spirit truly thrive.
